A simple, poignant message from 20-year-old Mika became the inspiration for this experimental animation. This project is a practice in hand-drawn rotoscope, using the technique to explore the raw and complex emotions that can surround a birthday. Each frame was drawn by hand over live-action footage to create a uniquely personal and expressive narrative.
